A fine example of Art Nouveau/Arts & Crafts cabinetry, a good carved solid walnut sewing/work table, circa 1900, most likely Scottish Arts & Crafts school. The hinged lid having a carved organic frieze with a central oval tablet, the lid enclosing a fitted interior, the table having corresponding carving on each side below. The table is raised on stylized 'hour glass' shaped legs and each side having three vertical stretchers, below is a secondary tier stretcher. Condition is very good and the table is robust and stable.
