A good set of six Mid Century Modern sterling silver wine goblets, by Alphonse La Paglia (1907-1953), for International Silver Co, 1952.

Alphonse La Paglia was a Italian-American silversmith, he was famous for blending Scandinavian modernism with American Mid-Century style. Before establishing himself in the United States he studied under the World acclaimed danish silversmith Georg Jensen, in Denmark. He immigrated to the United States in the early 1940s and continued to produce silver holloware and jewelry for Georg Jensen USA Inc.
In 1952 he entered into a prestigious partnership with the International Silver Co., forming the International Sterling Craft Associates, for whom these goblets were designed and produced by.

The goblets having a deep bowl and a flared rim and are raised on turned stems with a highly distinctive openwork floral motif to the base. The Goblets are raised on a circular foot and are marked to the underside
