Liberty & Co Arts & Crafts Anglo Moorish Medina Oak Bureau / Desk, L F Wyburd, circa 1900. A rare Arts & Crafts "Medina" oak bureau designed by Leonard Francis Wyburd circa 1900 & retailed by Liberty & Co., of London. The desk designed in the Anglo-Moorish style & having a bookshelf to the top with Arabesque carving & turned finials, the desk retaining the original curtains on three sides that are fitted with brass rods. The fall-front enclosing a fitted interior and having the original tooled & gilded leather writing surface. Below are five drawers and three mihrab (mosque niche) shaped openings, the bureau raised on tapering legs. Condition is excellent, the desk retaining the original finish.
