A rare pair of large 19th Century antique Islamic Multan pottery moon flasks, India, Sindh province (now Western Pakistan), circa 1850.
The flasks are decorated in blue, white and turquoise glazes, the top decorated with lappets above an elegant floral cuff, the sides of the circular body are also decorated with such floral decoration. The circular bodies of both flasks having broad swathes of Islamic Nastaliq script to the front and rear, each also having a circular void to the center, both flasks are raised on a circular foot with floral decoration.
Condition is very good indeed, no chips or cracks or restoration, a few glaze flakes, which is very common with pottery of this type. A rare pair of Multan pottery in an unusual form and decorated with calligraphy.
