A fine & large pair of antique Georgian porcelain fruit coolers or ice pails, most likely Coalport or Spode, circa 1810.
Pairs of fruit coolers such as this are exceedingly rare, ice would have been placed in the base with a bowl or liner for the fruit and ice would have then been placed in the top section. Such serving porcelain would have only been found in the very finest of stately homes.
The coolers are of urn form and in three sections, the socle shaped bases are bolted to the main body and the top having a lid with a reservoir for ice. The coolers are lavishly decorated in the Imari palette with gilded accents, the handles are modeled as swan's necks. Condition is remarkably good, no damage or repair, a very fine pair of antique Regency period porcelain fruit coolers circa 1810.
