An original signed and numbered colored lithograph, by the Spanish abstract surrealist, Joan Miro (1893-1983), tilted "Obra Inèdita Recent VIII", 1964,

Miró’s works, which were at the intersection between Surrealism and abstraction, he began receiving international attention in the 1920s. Miro had an incredibly prolific career and created artwork in an array of media until the time of his death in 1983. 
    
His passionate rejection of traditional painting allowed him to experiment with multiple styles including Cubism, Dutch Baroque, and Fauvism. He developed a unique visual language by combining abstract elements, specific colors, and reoccurring motifs.
    His best-known period of work began in the early 1960s when he began receiving many public work commissions. His works are noted for their freshness, body language, and deep meanings. He is an important bridge between Surrealism and abstraction.
    The “Obra Inèdita Recent” (Unpublished Recent Work) portfolio is a paradigm of Miro's oeuvre and artistic expression. Originally published as a catalogue for the 1964 Miró exhibitions at Sala Gaspar, Galeria Metras, and Belarte in Barcelona, the book features texts by Joan Brossa, A. Cirici, and E. Cirlot.
This image features whimsical and joyous marks in black, red, blue, green, and yellow, arranged around an explosive, black ink splotch in the center-right, and an energetic, bright yellow, circular scribble in the top left corner. Echoing calligraphic qualities, the loose gestures in this composition come together in a striking manner. This is an early, initialed and numbered lithograph from the heyday of Miro's' output, is is signed lower right and numbered lower left "95/100", it is in excellent condition and is framed and matted in museum, acid free archival materials, ready to take pride of place on your wall.

This original lithograph is from Miro's best-known period of work that began in the early 1960s, when he began receiving many public work commissions. Other copy of this image numbered 55/100 sold at Bonhams Auction, London 02 June 2023 for $5100.
