A fine & large 33" tall antique French Gothic ecclesiastical gilt bronze "Vive Jesus" candlestick, circa 1890.
The candlestick is very finely cast of heavy gilt bronze, the top having a pierced and reticulated sconce decorated with scroll-work and fleur des lis, with a central candlestick holder, below is an octagonal cuff with Fleury shaped crosses. The column having a stylized ring of thorns cuff supported with a Corinthian style capital, below is a statue of Jesus wearing a sash with the words "Vive Jesus" ( Long Live Jesus), the candlestick is raised upon a substantial tripod base with three winged griffins.
The candlestick is in excellent condition, 33" tall and weighs approximately 15 lbs.
