A very elegant antique Georgian Chippendale style carved walnut concertina action card table, circa 1890. The table of finely figured walnut & having an ingenious mechanism allowing the back legs to slide out and a concertina action pulls out to support the fold over leaf and provides a skirt to the table on all four sides. The top having a green baize/felt playing surface with a candle stand at each corner and an oval recessed counter well for each player. The table provided with stable support by cabriole legs having fan & bellflower carving to the knees and raised on claw and ball feet. To the underside is an old storage depository label from a company in Bruxelles, Belgium, dating from the 1930's. The table is in excellent condition.
