A large & striking Mid-20th century French Post-Impressionist Modernist oil on canvas painting, Parisian street scene by the French Modernist painter Jean-Claude Chesnay (born 1946).

The painting depicts the Place de l'Odéon in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, painted in muted colors with the use of a light impasto technique. It shows highly impressionistic figures walking past a cafe with seats and a table with umbrella. To the left of the painting are a series of bicycles, with other buildings and cafes to the background.
The painting epitomizes the Parisian modernist scene of the mid 20th century, signed lower right "Chesnay" and is housed in the original gilded and polychromed frame. The painting it is in excellent condition and ready to grace your wall.

Artist Biography
Jean-Claude Chesnay is a French modernist painter born in Paris in 1946. He is primarily recognized for his atmospheric, textured oil paintings that blend elements of Impressionism and Modernism. Chesnay is known for his Parisian townscapes, capturing iconic scenes of the city, such as bustling scenes of Montmartre. His works has been featured in Paris galleries such as Galerie Carlier.
