A very grand antique American Renaissance Revival carved bookcase secretary, circa 1870. The bookcase in two parts, the top bookcase having an ornately carved crown with floral & architectural detail and flanked by twin turned finials. Below are twin glazed arched doors flanked with carved fruiting corbel brackets, the top of the door arches are surmounted with carvings of bunches of grapes, the doors enclosing four adjustable shelves.
The base having a single fall front drawer enclosing a tooled & gilded inset brown leather writing surface, the sides of the drawer are finely pierced with carving, The base having twin cupboard doors with applied walnut leaf carving and flanked by acanthus leaf carved corbel brackets. The bookcase secretary is in very good condition.
