A fine, elegant antique late Regency/William IV rosewood credenza, circa 1835.
This cabinet extols the Regency style formed during the first quarter of the 19th century, highly influenced by designs from antiquity of the Greco-Roman and ancient Egyptian empires.
This credenza or bookcase exhibits the skills of high quality period cabinetmaking and is made from the finest figured rosewood.
The top having a gallery featuring a repeating, continuous openwork with geometric cutout quatrefoil motifs, below the doors are flanked carved floral tablets and to the center is a carved acanthus leaf bracket.
The cabinet having twin locking doors (key present) with hand-forged diamond lattice brass grilles decorated with circular floral 'buttons', the doors enclosing two shelves. The doors are flanked by substantial 'Barley Twist" columns and the cabinet is raised on turned bun feet with the original brass castors.
This very fine antique cabinet can be used as bookcase, wine cabinet, server, or buffet, or many other variety of uses, it is in excellent antique condition and is ready to grace your space.
