Antique Japanese Meiji Period Bronze Censer, Circa 1880. The censer of monumental size & made in three sections: The top section with an eagle on a rocky outcrop with a snake below; The middle section with a central panel embossed with an immortal riding a dragon while holding a flaming pearl, the middle section flanked by a removable pair of ornate dragon handles; The base having a nest of dragons with four out-swept legs on a circular base. The censer was almost certainly made as an exhibition piece in the late 19th century.
