A fine antique Gothic Revival Coromandel (Calamander) domed top stationery box, circa 1865.

The box made from the exotic hardwood known as Coromandel, from Sri lanka & India, sadly now logged to extinction. The box being in the Gothic Revival taste, with gothic brass strapping to the front and back. The interior is lined in the original blue silk and is fitted to receive writing paper and envelopes. The box was made by one of London's finest box makers; Toulmin & Gale with an engraved maker's brass plaque with their New Bond Street address. The box is in excellent condition.
