A fine antique carved walnut French Louis XV style Rococo three fold screen, with oil paintings on canvas depicting allegories of Spring and Summer, Austria, circa 1870. Ex-Christie's sale.

The screen is very finely carved in the Rococo style, each fold having a finely and elaborately carved crest with foliate and scrolled carvings, the sides of each frame carved with a recurring leaf motif.
The screen retains the original oil on canvas paintings, which depict a bucolic landscape with cherubs in an allegorical depiction of Spring and Summer.
Cherubs hold a draped curtain to the top and side of the screen, to the center one cherub stands up a scrolled plinth in front of a host of yellow and blue irises, the last fold painted with and architectural scene above a pair of nesting doves.
The screen is raised on three pairs of carved and scrolled feet, the rear of the panels are covered with brown figured satin fabric. The screen was sold at Christie's London in 2005 sale # 5813 for the British Pound equivalent of $7,500. The screen is in excellent antique condition and is ready to grace your space.
