A fine antique French Gothic Revival/Medieval gilt bronze jewelry casket, with prorcelain panels, circa 1870.
An identical jewelry casket sold on 1stdibs reference number LU155624346173, listed price $6,500.
The jewelry box is modeled on a Medieval/Gothic reliquary casket of the form made in Limoges in the 12th century. To the top is a locking lid with a finial of two female figures and is inset with three floral 'Sevres' style procelain plaques, the lid encloses a velvet lined jewelry box.
Below are a pair of locking doors inset with two porcelain panels depicting a medieval king & queen, inside is a shelf with more storage for jewelry. The rear of the box is decorated with gothic trefoils and the side having handles with pierced quatrefoils, the casket is raised on feet modeled as dragons. The casket does lock and there is a key present, condition is excellent.
