A very charming Art Deco French art glass vase, by Verrerie d'Art Lorraine for Daum, circa 1925. The globe shaped vase with a short flared neck, the vase having mottled decoration with a red ground with black and cream colored areas, the vase with an etched signature to the base "Lorraine Made in France". Condition is excellent. "Verrerie d'Art de Lorraine" glass company was created In 1867, the young Emile Gallé met Désiré Christian at the Schverer & Cie glass factory in Meisenthal. The two men continued to work together for thirty years. In 1894, when Emile Gallé created its own glass factory in Nancy, the glass artists of Meisenthal continued until the early 1900s for Burgun, Schverer & Cie, to create beautiful art glass under the name "Verrerie d'Art de Lorraine," Désiré Christian became manager of the works. Between 1898 and 1907, Désiré Christian, together with his brother and his son set up his own factory. He used his technical experience to created glass to rival that of glass created by Galle. Verrerie d'Art de Lorranine became part of the Daum company.
