The Flemish Art Company of New York was a prominent American manufacturer that became famous for fueling the massive pyrography (wood-burning) craze at the turn of the 20th century. Operating primarily out of Brooklyn and Manhattan between the late 1890s and the 1920s, the company was so incredibly successful that the brand name "Flemish Art" became a generic term used to describe the entire medium of pyrography.
