A rare & important set of four large antique Chinese Qing dynasty hand-painted porcelain plaques; of the "Four Seasons", housed in the original Hongmu wood frames, circa 1890.
Each plaque is finely hand-painted on porcelain & each depicts different types of birds in seasonal landscapes with trees and flowers, every plaque is set into the original Hongmu hardwood frame, each frame having an ornate bronze handle to the top.
Condition is very good, this wonderful set of four Chinese antique plaques are ready to hang on your wall.
Provenance; brought from China in 1900, the family had been resident in the Peking Legation Quarter and escaped the Boxer Rebellion and returned to the United States in 1900. The plaques have passed by family descent since then.
