A good antique American Gothic Revival oak lectern, book stand, circa 1890.
This very handsome solid oak book stand/lectern has a generously wide sloped bookrest to the top and is rasied on a substantial hexagonal column with ring turned decoration. The base has a curved quadraped base and is raised on a block plinth, the lectern is very stable and robust, it will hold the largest and heaviest of books and will allow the reader/speaker to stand to and lean on the stand.
This would make a great book stand or music stand, or a hostess/menu station in an exclusive restaurant, or? The lectern is totally original, great original color and finish and condition is excellent.
