A rare & historic antique walnut & etched glass door from the Bank of California, San Francisco, circa 1875.
The door in the Eastlake style was one of the doors from the very grand Bank of California, located on the corner of California & Sansome streets in San Francisco. The door was likely one of several that led from the banking hall to the vault, this substantial door is made from solid walnut & very thick acid etched & engraved glass panels, which are robustly framed. The central glass panel of oval form is deeply diamond etched & engraved with the word "Vault" to the center set in an acid etched cartouche & architectural pediment with etched 'C' scrolls. The central panel is surround by glass corner spandrels that are deeply etched with star shaped designs, the door has the original glass handle with brass circular bezel. Condition is very good indeed, the door structure & glass is in excellent condition.
