A fine quality antique American Aesthetic Movement walnut Eastlake lock side chest of drawers, circa 1870.
The chest having a carved & spindled gallery surmounted with a pair of finials, below is a smaller drawer for valuables & jewelery. The body of the dresser has a pair of drawers to the very top and five large drawers below, the base drawers is deeper than the ones above. All of the drawers have raised burl walnut panels and the original brass handles, to the right side is a locking hinged panel to secrure all the drawers, the original kep is present. The chest is raised on squat bracket feet and the original castors, wide & tall with lots of storage, the drawers run smooth.
Condition is excellent, a very fine quality chest of drawers, epitomizing the American Aesthetic Movement and the Eastlake style, whilst being a very useful piece of storage furniture.
