A fine antique Georgian Queen Anne Welsh dresser in remarkable original condition, with original plate rack, circa 1750.
The dresser with a plate rack having a stepped cornice & a shaped arched frieze below, the plate rack with three shelves with corresponding wavy decoration, to receive cups and plates. The shelves are flanked by a pair of locking cupboards with two shelves to the interior, and a pair spice drawers below with an arched canopy above.
The base having three deep drawers withy the original brass 'Batwing" lock escutcheons and brass bail handles original keys are present for the doors & drawers. The dresser is raised on cabriole legs terminating to pad feet and joined with a reverse arch frieze. Great condition, one of the best Welsh dresser one will see, total originality, stable and robust, and has just lovingly received a beeswax polish in Bloomsbury's professional workshops. The dresser has a dark mellow honey colored patina, this magnificent piece of mid 18th century Welsh vernacular furniture is ready to grace your space.
The dresser back & base are in two sections for ease of movement.
