A good antique 19th century English pine country lambing chair or bench settle, circa 1860.
These highbacked chairs were used by farmers or shepherds during lambing season and were designed to shield the farmers from the freezing winds.
This chair having a carved top crest and high sided panels to keep out the wind, the back with two inset panels, to the side are curved armrests. The bench having a single drawer to the base with the original knob shaped pulls, the seat is raised on bracket feet.
Condition is good, the chairs has just lovingly received a coat of wax in Bloomsbury's professional workshops, this very attractive piece of antique English vernacular furniture is ready to grace your space.
