A very attractive 18th century antique French Provincial two drawer carved walnut commode from the Régence period, circa 1760.
The chest of Serpentine form and made from solid walnut is fitted with two deep drawers, the drawers open and close with ease and are clean and aroma free. The chest having a wavy serpentine shaped top, this outline is repeated with the two drawers, each drawer with relief panels and bronze handles and escutcheon lock-plates. The commode has a shaped skirt with carved twin scroll decoration, this feature is repeated on the sides and also the sides have arched relief panels.
The chest is raised on cabriole legs and terminate to scrolled pad feet.
Condition is very good, the commode is very stable and study, it has just lovingly received a coat of wax in Bloomsbury's professional workshops and has a deep, warm honey colored patina. This very attractive French provincial chest from the late 1700s is ready to grace your space.
