The wooden case is decorated overall with very fine ‘Vernis Martin’ lacquer paint with floral sprays and garlands on a green background. The waisted case is completely framed and mounted with pierced foliate gilt bronze rococo decoration and is surmounted by a large gilded ball finial. The sides of the clock case are also decorated with painted floral decoration, with two elongated cut out windows so one can see the works in motion. The front door locks from the side the key is present, the rear door encloses the original brass 8 day time and strike mechanism, the hours and half hours chime on a mellow sounding nest of twin bells, housed in the top of the clock case. The brass pendulum is affixed by silk thread and hangs behind the back plate, the clockworks winding key is also present.
The clock is of large size at 24" tall and the sumptuous Louis XV bronze mounts and hand-painted floral designs are all original and in excellent condition, the movement is also in good working condition.
