A good carved antique oak open wainscot carved armchair, from the Charles II period, Yorkshire, circa 1680.
The chair with a carved crest rail to the top with stylized twin dolphins and a deeply carved back panel with geometric floral and lozenge designs, and an arcaded frieze.
The chair with substantial arms raised on turned supports, below is a skirt with a corresponding arcaded frieze. The chair having turned legs and stretchers.
The chairs is traditionally made with mortice and tenon and pegged construction. Condition is very good, the chair is of substantial sturdy construction and has a great patina. The chair has just been lovingly waxed in Bloomsbury's professional workshops. This lovely antique chairs from the late 1600s is ready to grace your space.
