A good quality antique American George III Chippendale period bureau/desk, fall front secretary, circa 1760. The desk having a fall front with a brass escutcheon lockplate, the hinged fall front having pull out loper supports, enclosed are seven pigeon holes and a configuration of six drawers. The base of the secretary having a bank of four graduated, cockbeaded drawers, each with the original pierced brass handles and lockplate, the desk is raised on shaped bracket feet.
All the drawer linings and secondary woods are white pine, the desk is made of the finest figured solid Cuban mahogany, the drawers run smooth and true. The desk has good original finish and is in very good condition, a nice example of an antique Chippendale desk circa 1760.
