The painting depicts a harbor scene with tall ships and a steam ship to the background and surrounded by fortifications. Signed lower left "W.T. Davey, lower left and housed in the original gilded frame.
William Turner Davey was an English artist and engraver who was best known for his faithful engravings of a number of celebrated Victorian works of art, by artists such as Edwin Landseer, Rosa Bonheur and Richard Ansdell, to name just a few.
