A rare & superb quality antique 19th century Chinese Chippendale, Centennial, carved mahogany display cabinet, attributed to Gillows of Lancaster, circa 1890. The cabinet made from the finest mahogany and having twin domed and ornately carved tops, mounted with carved circular (removeable) finials, below are twin doors enclosing twin shelves, the interior lined with the original crushed velvet, which is in very good condition. To the center is a mirrored back recess which is supported by ribbed and carved columns below which is a smaller pair of carved doors enclosing shelves, again lined in the original velvet.
The cabinet in two sections and is raised on a stand with a pierced gallery to the rear and a shaped shelf stretcher joining eight ribbed legs, terminating to pierced splayed feet.
This is a substantial antique cabinet in excellent condition, evidently made for stately home or a house of some significance, it truly is a joy to behold.
