Antique American Oil on Canvas by Charles Holloway (American, 1859-1941), Circa 1915. The painting depicting a South American landscape scene, to the foreground  a male figure walking a burro at sunset.

Holloway was a celebrated painter of murals, born in Philadelphia in 1859. He eventually studied in Paris and received many commissions from numerous American cities, such as Chicago, Milwaukee, and Upper Sandusky, Ohio. He became a member of the Muralist Painters and exhibited in the Paris Exhibition in 1900 and continued to take commissions in Indiana, Illinois, South Dakota, to name a few. He created murals for the Court of Palms at the Panama-Pacific Exposition, held in San Francisco in 1915, the period from which this painting comes. The painting in good condition, signed lower right, and housed in the original gilded frame.
