Antique Circassian Walnut Inlaid Aesthetic Movement Bonheur du Jour/Writing Desk, Circa 1880. The desk made from the very finest burled Circassian walnut, having a pierced brass gallery to the top, below are a pair of doors with inlaid oval paterae outlined in ebony, enclosing a fitted interior of pigeon holes and drawers made of maple. Below is a corresponding inlaid paterae with a single drawer enclosing a lift-up writing surface with black tooled gilded leather. The base having a single door with corresponding inlay and enclosing three shelves, flanked by ebonized corbel brackets and standing on the original white ceramic casters.
