Bardin 1800. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEach finely detailed table top globe is raised on an elegant patinated mahogany stand, with four turned legs joined at the center by a X shaped turned stretcher, the actual globes having a 12\" diameter and stand over 18\" in height. At the center of the stretcher is a brass final and wheel, which holds the engraved Meridian Ring supports for the globes, allowing them not only rotate, but also tilt. The Brass supports lead from the South Pole and intersect a flat border called the Horizon Ring, which represents the observer's horizon. These flat Horizon Rings display compass direction, hours, zodiac signs and calendar months. One globe is dedicated to the observation of the earth, while the other showcases 88 constellations of the stars.
