Antique Large Sterling Silver Engraved Repousse Desk Ink Well Sheffield 1899

A very elegant antique English sterling silver desk lidded inkwell, Sheffield, 1899.
This very attractive silver inkwell having a hinged lid with a ball finial and spiral engraved decoration, the lid enclosing the original glass liner. The globular body is finely chased with a floral & foliate repousse design, the inner lid is marked "Sterling", the underside with hallmarks for Sheffield 1899 and also stamped with Queen Victoria's head. There is also another "Sterling" stamp to the underside, most likely denoting made for export to the United States.  
Condition is excellent, overall weight is 419 grams.
