A rare antique, all original and fully functioning cast iron English cheese press by Thomas Corbett of Shrewsbury, circa 1880. The cheese press having been fully & professionally restored, the top having an acorn shaped finial with the original brass pressure gauge below, reading in hundredweights (cwt). The press having three circular cast iron platforms to press wheels of cheese, two of the platforms move up or down and are operated by a large turning capstan, they move freely and the capstan turns with ease. The sides of the press having a pair of corresponding acorn shaped finials and the press is titled in two places, the base marked "Thomas Corbett Shrewsbury Winner of 14 prizes". A rare antique cheese press in very good condition.
