The throne dates from the second half of the 19th century, it is very finely hand-carved with Gothic tracery \u0026amp; fenestration. \u003cbr\u003eThe high back and front base panels feature deeply carved, openwork tracery mimicking the stone window frames of Gothic cathedrals. The high backrest is decorated with carved heraldic shields or coats of arms, a common motif adding a sense of noble ancestry or lineage. The top of the tall backrest is flanked by ornate, pointed foliated finials, extending upward like cathedral spires, which are joined with a finely carved and reticulated panel of quatrefoils and rosettes.\u003cbr\u003eThe flat seat lifts up on cast iron strap hinges to reveal a hollow storage box built into the lower cabinet, with substantial clean and odor free storage.
