(Sold)An original oil on canvas painting by Don Prechtel (1936), titled "Rough Riders", painted in the 1970s. The painting is in excellent condition, signed lower right and housed in the original gilded frame, with a title & name-plate to the base of the frame.
The painting depicts two members of the 1st United States Volunteer Cavarly (commonly known as The Rough Riders) in a tropical landscape, both have their arms drawn, one with a rifle the other with a revolver. Formed in 1898 and gathered in Arizona, Texas, New Mexico & Oklahoma, the Rough Riders played an integral role in the Spanish American War. They were an essential part of the battles of Las Guasimas & San Juan Hil and assisted in the Siege of Santiago leading to the capitualtion on the Spanish forces.

Don Prechtel is a professional working artist since 1968.
