A very good example of an antique Georgian, Regency period, tilt-top rosewood dining/breakfast, circa 1820.
The table is made of the finest figured rosewood, the circular top locking into the pedestal base with the original brass locking mechanism and handle, the table is very robust & stable. The table stands on an inverted tapered pedestal and terminates to a inclined corresponding circular base with a carved stylized acanthus leaf cuff, the table is raised on tripod carved lion's paw feet. The table would have originally graced a grand house in the early 19th century & when not in use would have been placed in the upright position to a corner of the room, with the very handsome graining of the rosewood facing to the interior of the dining room.
Condition is very good, the figuring of the rosewood is quite dramatic & the finish is original and in very good condition as is the table itself, this rather refined table will comfortably seat six dining guests.
