Antique English Oak Jacobean Commonwealth Period Wainscot Armchair, circa 1650. The chair of joined & pegged construction, having a shaped & paneled back, the arms carved & having turned supports. The chair having a simple planked seat and raised of turned legs, the chair having a stretcher on each side. The chair unusually has not been 'aftercarved' in the 19th century as many of these simple chairs were, the chair most likely from Yorkshire or Lancashire & dating from the interregnum (between monarchs) or Commonwealth period.
