A fabulous antique German Baroque Revival Carved oak Library cabinet/bookcase, circa 1890. The cabinet is very finely carved with an allegory of love, represented by six carved putti in different poses. The cabinet having a stepped crown with a carved frieze of acanthus leaves, below are three doors, the right and left doors carved with demi-lune ribbed columns and topped with a pair of carved putti, each paneled door is decorated with a fruiting basket. The central glazed door is decorated with a pair of putti holding a floral basket, the central door enclosing four shelves, the left and right having two shelves each. The cabinet is raised on a stepped plinth and compressed carved bun feet, condition is very good. The cabinet easily disassembles into a number of pieces for ease of movement and reassembly.
