Highly Important Antique Islamic Persian Bronze Lion Statue / Incense Burner / Pomander from Khurasan, Circa 1200-1300. This important large antique Islamic bronze lion dates circa 1200-1300 CE and was made in Khurasan in ancient Persia. Very often these figures are referred to as incense burners, the other more likely school of thought is that they were used as pomanders filled with fragrant petals & scent to escape into a room from the pierced panels.

This bronze came from the collection of a prominent Kuwaiti collector, condition is very good, size is large at 13" (33 cm) tall x 11" (28 cm) wide, the bronze having traces of silver inlay.
