A spectacular antique French carved rosewood Louis Philippe rococo desk bureau, circa 1850.
The desk is in two parts, the top section of curved form with six pigeon holes and a shelf below, flanked with a pair of curved cupboard doors with 'Barley Twist' columns and  carved rococo cartouches to the front. The desk has a serpentine top with a tooled & gilded 'Ox Blood' leather, which has just been professionally replaced by the premier leather restorer on the West Coast and antiqued to match the desk.
The desk is fitted with one long curved drawer and with two short drawers to either side which have a reversed curve, the drawer fronts have extravagant rococo carved lock escutcheons, the original keys are present and the locks open smoothly.
The desk sides are gracefully curved inwards and the desk is raised on substantial cabriole legs that have carved cartouches to the knees and terminate to scrolled feet.
The desk is made from the finest rosewood, and is incredibly well made a true testament to the work of a  very skilled cabinet maker, condition is excellent, this exquisite antique desk is ready to grace your home or office.
