A very stylish antique Art Deco silver plate vase by the French sculptor and designer Andre Villien, circa 1920. Andre Villien was born in the late 19th century and was active in Paris between 1905 and 1924, he was a sculptor and designer of Art Nouveau & Art deco objects, including silver, pewter, pottery & glass and collaborated with many other prominent French designers of the time such as Andre De latte & Charles Schneider. This vase is the epitome of the Age of Jazz, Josephine Baker dancing in Paris, the Great Gatsby etc. The vase with a circular flared body and a raised rim decorated with spiral designs and four flanged handles with an engraved textured design, the body on the vase with and incised repeating arch design. The vessel has an engraved signature towards the base "A. Villien" and to the underside it is stamped with "AV L'etain Francais Paris Depose" Condition is good a little rubbing, but presents very well, weight 455 Grams.
