A good antique Japanese Meiji period Isho Dansu, Tansu chest, circa 1880.
This very stylish antique Japanese chest is in two sections, with hinged carrying handles at the side of each section. The chest is made from Kuri (chestnut) and Hinoki (Japanese cypress), the tansu has a configuration of five different sized drawers and one locking door, enclosing two small drawers. The drawers and door are fitted with hand-forged engraved reticulated iron locks, escutcheons & handles, the drawers run smooth and straight.
This very nice antique tansu is in very good condition and is ready to grace your home.
