A very rare antique American large 'Bird's Nest' Sterling silver ice spoon, by Gorham, 1865.
The same spoon is currently on the Replacements website for $5,999.
The spoon having a large pierced bowl, with a pair of engraved applique leaves to the top of the bowl, the spoon handle is modeled as a branch with three corresponding leaves at the end of handle. The spoon terminates to a bird's nest containing three eggs and a perched brooding bird, the back of the spoon shows a birds foot cradling the nest. The rear of the spoon with the impressed marks for Gorham and also stamped "sterling".
Condition is excellent, a fine and rare antique Bird's nest ice serving spoon by Gorham 1865.
