A fine & Large antique Japanese Meiji period bronze Koro or incense burner or urn, circa 1890.
Finely modeled with an eagle & snake to the top finial with a crown shaped cuff below, the bulbous body decorated in deep relief both front & rear with birds in a woodland environment, to the sides the handles are modeled with leaves & flowers. Below are two flanges with arrow shaped devices, the urn is raised on a circular stepped base which is reticulated with prunus flower decoration, the circular foot engraved with a meandering 'Greek Key' decoration.
The urn/koro breaks down into seven parts, condition is excellent, the urn having a rich mellow patina.
