A very fine antique Regency Revival marquetry inlaid rosewood combination games and sewing table, circa 1890.
The finely grain figured rosewood table having a hinged top inlaid with satinwood stringing and a circular patera, the table opens and swivels to expose an inlaid playing surface with a chessboard, cribbage board and also backgammon. Below is a single drawer with scrolling foliate satinwood inlay with the original brass bail handles, the drawer interior is fitted with compartments for chess pieces, cards etc. The underside is fitted with a slide out work-box for sewing/embroidery, which is inlaid with satinwood stringing and paterae spandrels, raised on tapering legs with the original brass castors inlaid with stringing & joined with a stretcher for books or papers.
The table is in good antique condition.
