Antique Metal Enamel Advertising Sign Spratt's Bonio Per Food Dog Biscuits 1910

A very rare antique enamel on tin lithographic Adertising sign for Spratt's Bonio dog biscuits, circa 1910.
This wonderful advertising sign, has the lengend "All dogs love Spratt's bonio (reg'd) the tasty bone shaped biscuit!" with a depiction of a Spaniel and a St Bernard dog. 
The sign is in remarkable condition and eveidently had been displayed inside a store rather than outside and exposed to the elements. The sign is housed in a good antique gilded gesso frame, both the frame and sign are in excellent condition. This sign is very rare indeed the only reference to one other was sold at Bishop & Miller Auctions Stowmarket UK for 2700 GBP  (approximately $3500) May 17th 2019.  The sign at sight, without the frame is 23.50" x 8.50", this very rare advertising sign is ready to hang on your wall.

In 1860, American James Spratt, an electrician and lightning rod salesman from Ohio, was the first to manufacture a dried dog biscuit food. While living in England, Spratt observed street dogs eating ship hardtack, the non-perishable food made from processed cereals. The idea for commercial dog food was born.
