A magnificent antique Japanese Meiji period Satsuma pottery moon flask vase, circa 1880.
The vase is very skillfully hand-painted in polychrome enamels and gilt decoration, it is of the very highest quality. The neck of rectangular form having band of geometric lappets and raised handpainted gilt and floral decoration, the vase with similar decoration to it's circumference 
The circular 'moon' shaped body of the vase is very finely painted with a pair of warring samurai, on one side they both have swords and on the other one with a longbow the other with battle axe or Ono. The base of the vase with a corresponding shape to the neck and decorated with raised gilded & floral decoration. Condition is very good, no damage or restoration, this magnificent antique Satsuma vase is ready to grace your space.
