A good antique American carved walnut & burl walnut Renaissance Revival armoire wardrobe, New York, circa 1870.
The armoire with a stepped crown to the top, below are a pair of raised burl walnut panels, the armoire with a pair of arched doors also decorated with burl neoclassical style walnut panels with incised carving. The doors are flanked with a pair of ribbed & turned columns with carved capitals, below the columns with carved acanthus leaf cuffs, the base is fitted with a pair of drawers.
The interior has a generous amount of storage, the back of the armoire with a series of coat hooks, and a rail for hanging clothes, the armoire breaks down into its parts for ease of movement or placement in a tight or inaccessible area. There are twin iron bolts to the top and the same to the base where the fitted drawers are, the crown and base can be removed & the doors remove, it is very easily assembled & disassembled. The armoire came from a New York brownstone and had been in the same family since the late 19th century.
The armoire is in very good antique condition and is ready to grace your space.
