A good antique antique American Steuben "Gold Aurene" glass vase, circa 1910.
The Steuben glass works was founded by the celebrated English glassmaker Frederick Carder & American glassmaker Thomas Hawkes, in 1903 & located in Corning, New York.
Carder had produced colored glass for the famous Steven & Williams glassworks in Stourbridge, located in the West Midlands of the United Kingdom. Carder gad experimented with colored glass for Steuben & soon perfected Gold Aurene, to rival the Iridescent glass of Tiffany.
This very elegant vase having a flared neck and baluster shaped body with a flared foot, the base has a ground pontil mark where the vase was broken off the glass pipe, as these vases where hand blown. The vase also has the Steuben signature to the base "Aurene", condition is excellent.
